Buying Swimsuits

Now that the warmer weather is coming, it is time shop for swimsuits. If we are being honest, I’ve been shopping for them since the winter. I used to hate swimsuits. When I was super skinny, I felt so vulnerable. I felt self conscious that people would get mad at me. I thought anyone bigger would think I was being rude because I weighed less than a hundred pounds. I have always been super nervous about my body hair when in a swimsuit. When I became a mother, I refused to wear a swim suit because of my new stretch marks and curves. I felt so uncomfortable in my skin. Then when I gained some weight, I was also super nervous because I thought people would make fun of me.

Now I’m to a point where I really don’t care. No one is really actually looking at me. So what if my arm pits aren’t perfectly smooth. So what if I have cellulite and stretch marks showing. So what if I have extra fat roll. This is me. Worrying about it really won’t change anything. Most people are too busy worrying how they look themselves, that they don’t even pay attention to everyone else. If it is hot outside, where something weather appropriate. Don’t feel like you have to hide your body just because of the way you look!

Now that we got that out of the way I’m going to share what I look for in a swimsuit.

Two piece and high waisted

Have you ever tried putting a one piece back on after going pee and you are all wet? It is so hard to do. That’s why I don’t do one pieces that often. I do have some cute one pieces but I wear them more for lounging than to actually swim in. I go for high waisted because I feel more comfortable having my belly covered. I would be fine with a pair of bottoms that ends half way too. I just want my lower belly covered. I don’t like running around with the extra jiggle. That’s why I normally wear compression leggings, to hold everything together.

Dark pattern bottoms

Patterns help disguise the belly. The dark colors make it a lot harder to see too. I try to give the illusion that I have a flat stomach. I am fine with being wide, but I just feel a bit self conscious when I have my loose skin out on show for everyone to see.

Straps

I cannot do a strapless swim top. I need the support that the straps bring. If you are gifted on top, look for something with thick straps.

Ruffle tops

I don’t have that big of a top half. Having Ruffles and layers on top, gives the illusion that you have more going on than you really do.

Now here’s the grand reveal of the suit I just got. https://temptmeswimsuits.com/

As I look at my picture next to the models, I realize I didn’t put my arms in the arm holes. I was wondering why there was a hole in the Ruffles. I thought it was for longer torsos to have a little cut out. I ordered this in a size small and it fits me great. It is very flattering. The Ruffles go far enough in the back to over my back fat. The booty is fully covered. This is a perfect swimsuit to wear around family when you don’t want to be showing too much skin.

What do you look for in a swimsuit? How many swimsuits do you own? Does swimsuit shopping scare you?
