I have a four year old girl. She loves being able to color and glue things down. The problem is that I’m not very crafty. I don’t have the patience for it. The crafts she enjoys, I don’t. I would rather do a crazy painting. But she’s four. When she’s older, we’ll do crafts that I enjoy more. I looked on pinterst for ideas for a St. Patrick’s Day craft. For once, I did NOT steal the entire idea. I was definitely inspired by the idea. The picture I saw was colorful popsicle sticks all glued down in the colors of a rainbow. I decided to do it a little different.

Start off with your material. I also needed some paper as well. I had colorful popsicle sticks, glue, and toilet paper….. I know we are on a shortage but I only used three pieces. You could also use cotton balls but we didn’t have any.

I laid them in a arch shape so they can look like a rainbow. If I found taking three of each color, gave you the best shape.

The popsicle sticks we used had a sticky side to them. It made applying them a lot easier. If yours do not, you can just glue them down.

We then glued down our “clouds” my daughter was bummed that there was no green and purple popsicle sticks in our package…. She somehow can remember the order of a rainbow with ease since unicorns make them. We decided to write something in the middle. We used green since it is the St. Patrick’s Day color. I went with the uncreative phrase of Happy St. Patrick’s Day. My daughter didn’t want to write that on hers. She wanted to write her own name.
My daughter had so much fun with this craft. It was easy enough that she didn’t need any help, other than me guiding her the way through it. She has this hanging up in our foyer so you can see it when you first walk in the house. I was planning on putting them on the fridge but they are a bit heavy for that.
What are you doing for St. Patrick’s Day? Do you do crafts with your kid?
