Did anyone else grow up being told they had child bearing hips or love handles from their family? Family always starts off judging us before others do. I never knew what it meant until I was a teenager that I had big hips. I never really cared until I started gaining weight. Tight clothes and jeans just looked so weird on me even though I didn’t have a big belly.
Okay most people may not know what hip dips actually are. I know I didn’t until just recently. Hips dips are the inward depression along the side of your body, just below the hip bone. Some people call may them violin hips. Instead of the outer edges of your hips following curves that look like they were drawn using a protractor, they have indentations. These indentations may be slight and barely noticeable, or they could be rather prominent. They are a normal part of your body structure. They are just the way your body is laid out.
You can do different workouts to help them not be so obvious if that is something you would like. Working out will not make them go away. This is just how your body is made. Just like some people are naturally taller than others. These workouts will just make it look like it isn’t something you have. Some great workouts would be: fire hydrants, standing kickback lounge, standing side leg lifts, standing side-to-side squats, normal squats, and glute bridges. There are many other options but honestly those are my favorite.
Something I suggest on helping you, is following more people on instagram that have hip dips. Seeing more people with it, will make you not feel so alone. I honestly position myself in pictures to not make my hip dip obvious. That’s not something you should feel pressured to do so. It is just how your body is.

Do you have hip dips? Do you have any tips on accepting your hip dips? Had you heard of them beforehand? We all should just be okay with hoe our body looks. Especially something that simply cannot be changed.
I love this post. I hadnβt heard about hip dips but do need to love our bodies and stop being our own worst critic.
